You've got to love AN IDIOT AT HIS BEST.
To summarize, Dennis Leary has published a new book which I confess I have not read (and I also admit I will not be reading) in which he says:
"There is a huge boom in autism right now because inattentive mothers and competitive dads want an explanation for why their dumb-ass kids can't compete academically."
Of course now he is clarifying "what he meant" by that remark and he says he has nothing but respect for families that have autistic children. Hey Dennis, while you're at it, why don't you go out and bash the comedians that have no fucking concept of what the hell they are talking about - as evidenced by a well known one that recently opened his mouth, shoved his foot inside and tried to explain afterward what he meant.
It's not humor if it's not funny - it's just tacky and sad. So is resorting to insulting children by calling them "dumb-asses". Good luck with that best seller brother, I'm sure you don't need the support of the autistic community to make it a winner!

The Dark Knight
After months of waiting, I finally got to see this movie, and the rumors are all true. Heath Ledger is amazing in this or should I say, the Joker is amazing in this film. There is zero trace of the young man who's tragic death shocked so many. He's brash, he's crazy and while you want to look away you just can't pull your eyes off the screen. He is mesmerizing in his insanity.
Go see the movie if only to enjoy this performance if you can. This is the best comic book film I've ever seen. And while Ledger is fantastic the story here is compelling enough to make you happy you made the trip.

WOW!
Did any of you ever watch 3rd Rock? If so you'll know that actress above, Kristin Johnson. I had to share this picture because I was shocked at how different she looks now. She's lost over 60 pounds!

Celebrities and Charity
As I was browsing I'm not Obsessed I came across a story about Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and their possible purchase of this huge 60 million dollar castle in France. Below the story were comments of course and as always, there were anonymous people coming out in droves to name call and bash.
One comment in particular really bothered me. The person (again, anon of course) called Jolie and Pitt hypocrites and stated they hoped they moved permanently from the USA to France because they are fake hypocrites who smile for the camera but fight behind closed doors. Well you know me...I had to respond. I told this person jealousy was very unbecoming and why can't people just be happy for each other.
This trickled to me being told to "shush up" and then informed Jolie and Pitt are hypocrites of the worst kind because they give money and preach to others to donate money and live frugally yet here they are, living in mansions.
Here is my thing. How much do you expect celebrities to give and sacrifice before you consider their sacrifices to be just that? This brings to mind a problem I had with Oprah. It drove me batty hearing her tell people to donate to this and that but to watch as she lived it up and sat on billions. However, I got over it when I realized this is her money. She earned it. And while it would be great if she donated more ultimately that is her decision.
In the case of Jolie though, I just don't see it as the same. She donates exactly 1/3 of her income to charity. That's more than other celebrities and on top of that she donates her time, flying around the world as a Good Will Ambassador.
What do you think?

Living Lohan
Tonight I tuned in to Denise Richard's new E! show, "It's Complicated". It was decent enough and I'll probably tune in next week.
Directly following it was the series, "Living Lohan" that follows Lindsay Lohan's Mom Dina and sister Ali. I decided to give it a shot and found myself more than once looking at Jimbo and saying, "what the fuck?"
From my understanding the premise of the series is supposed to revolve around 14 year old Ali and her dreams of becoming...famous...for a lack of a better word. But instead I was treated to Dina reading as much tabloid fodder as she could get her claws on and then contacting the publishers demanding it be removed or "you'll hear from my attorney".
For someone who claims she wants to protect her children, what the hell is she thinking allowing her 14 year old daughter to enter the spotlight. She already has watched her oldest enter into rehab, her every move captured on camera. Is that really what she wants for Ali? You can't complain one minute when Lindsay has bad press, "Ali and Cody (her youngest son) go to school, they have to deal with this", only to turn around the next minute and talk about your 14 year old being an artist and recording her own album.
That's the thing about being a parent. We are the ones versed in the world and because of it we have to tell our children no sometimes. Not because we want to hold them back but because it's for their own good. If they still want to do things when they are older then they can. But a good parent sets boundaries. A 14 year old is in no position to know exactly what is is they do and don't want and they certainly are not mature enough to make huge decisions in life.
This woman seriously needs to get her shit together.

Nick and Hulk Hogan
This topic has the potential to be flame worthy. To preface it, I want to say this is just my opinion and everyone is entitled their own. With that said...
I'm sure many of you are aware of the car accident involving Nick Hogan and his friend John Graziano. Both young men had been drinking (Nick was 17 years old at the time, John 22). Nick was driving his Toyota Supra, John in the passenger seat, lost control and wrapped around a tree. Nick was wearing his seat belt which saved his life, John was not and is in a current vegetative state.
Nick was sentenced to 8 months in prison for his part in this and his father Hulk Hogan calls him often. Since we live in the day and age of the cyber paparazzi their phone calls have been shared with everyone via TMZ.com. One of the conversations has many people in an uproar. I won't say much about it because I think it's a situation where you have to hear it to make an opinion.
You can listen HERE. After come back for the rest of my entry.
Now, the talk of reality TV shows aside, I want to bring up something that bothers me greatly about this entire situation. Where is the responsibility from John? Yes it's terrible he was hurt so gravely, I feel for him and his family. But he was old enough to know better than to drive around with a drunk 17 year old and better still old enough to know to wear a safety belt.
In Redneckville we have serious accidents often. I'm sure it's not just here but I'd prefer only to speak for fact about what I know, like Redneckville. I guess it's a southern thing...country boys and their booze, but I've seen some horrible accidents in my time. I've seen more than one with a sheet draped over a body and the jaws of life on the scene. This is why I will preach at my children. I will drill it into their brains the importance of driving only when sober and to always wear a seat belt. Ultimately, it will be their choices that protect them, not someone else's. They are responsible for themselves.
I can understand the reason people find what Nick said to be so shallow. But on the other hand I think people really need to step back and realize John might be in a better place had he made better decisions. No one can predict the future, one can only brace for the possibilities. This is another reason I always buckle myself and my children in, I don't know who is driving drunk on the roads with me as I'm on the way home. It's not about my driving it's about the driving of others I could come across.
I'd like to hear what you all think about this.

Miley, Miley, Miley
As many of you already know, I'm not a huge fan of Miley Cyrus. I don't understand her appeal. Maybe it's because I'm an old foggie or maybe it's because my children are not at the age (nor watch enough TV) to be into her. But even as a non-fan I hear about her.
First it was the provocative sleepover pictures of her posing with a friend that caught attention. Then it was the Libby Lu ticket scandal. After that it was the stand-in at her concerts. Shortly thereafter it was the new pictures of her exposing her bra and now it's about her photo shoot for Vanity Fair magazine.
I just have to say, do we really need to read about the above news stories on CNN.com? Isn't CNN about worldwide news? Since when is reading about a 15 year olds poor choices (not to mention what appears to be poor choices by her parents!) considered important news from around the globe? And it's not just CNN either, The NY Times is running an article today about it as well.
There are two pictures on my blog located above. The first was released by Vanity Fair to show the location and how it looked when the picture was shot. The second is of the actual photo in question. The famed photographer, Annie Leibovitz, did the shoot. She shoots digitally and shares each image with the celebrity before saving it for the magazine.
Now, from my stand point, it doesn't appear from that first picture there is any way possible Annie could have tricked Miley or her parents (who were on hand for the shoot, Billy Ray is actually in one of the photo's with his daughter). It looks pretty cut and dry to me. She posed in a sheet, with her back showing. Annie took the picture and wa~la. It's not rocket science people!
I remember seeing Miley when Barbara Walters did her most fascinating people thing before the Oscars. I wasn't at all impressed with the girl. But what really hit a nerve with me was Miley discussing her own "wing" of the house she shares with her parents. No fifteen year old needs to live in their own 'home' and to me a wing is pretty much that. At her age she is on the cusp of becoming either a responsible young woman or a reckless one. I just don't think that much freedom at fifteen is a good thing.
What do you all think about this story?

Better with Age!!
Does anyone remember the 80's group A-ha (They sang the hit "Take on Me" with the picture above being from that video)? Boy I sure do! I remember having the biggest crush on the lead singer, Morte Harket.
Well, I was surfing the web today and I found some videos and pictures of him and HOLY COW, he looks better than he did back then and he's going to be 50! Yes, 50!! Why can't women age this gracefully, jeez.
One things for sure, I'd happily put his poster on my wall again if I were still a teenager!

Gold Digger?
Does this woman just scream gold digger to you? I thought Paul was insane for not getting a pre-nup with her in the first place. Now she's walking away with a cool 50 million. Story HERE.
What do you think? Do you think she will donate to charity as she is insinuating?

Tacky Spelling
When Dean McDermott's ex-wife, Toronto TV personality Mary Jo Eustace decided to write a memoir of her life during and after the hell of divorce in the public eye, Tori Spelling lashed out saying:
.
"It's opportunistic and undignified that she would want to exploit her former marriage for monetary gain. We only wish her the very best."
.
Does anyone else but me find Tori Spelling's new tell-all book to be a bit hypocritical in light of that comment and also...well...tacky? I've never been a huge Tori fan, she always looked fake and plastic to me. Of course I heard about her here and there in the news, especially when she had an affair that ended her marriage and the marriage of her now husband (who left behind a wife of 12 years and 2 children, the youngest 10 months old at the time).
.
I thought she'd caused enough damage but I suppose she just loves throwing those punches. I was sickened to read her comments on her affair, waking up with Dean the next morning with zero regrets. She even mentions she was instantly attracted to Dean but saw his wedding ring and him showing pictures around of his children the day they met.
.
Nice.
.
These two need to step out of the little bubble they are floating around in and think about those kids Dean decided to leave behind. I have zero respect for this man as a Father. Sure, I can buy he fell in love with another woman but his actions after the fact have made him look like a total asshole and dead beat. Why couldn't he have told his wife, made the transition easier for his children and not made comments to the press like:
.
"I've never had as much of a desire to get married and make a woman my wife as I've had with her. The feeling is overwhelming. We're soul mates."
.
What a gentleman! As for Tori, I hope she gets a taste of how it feels. I'd like to see Dean step out on her with someone else he falls in love with. Wouldn't that be poetic justice?
.
**My local DSL provider insists "nothing is wrong" with the service. Yet I can't upload pictures and the screen loads like it's on dial-up. Sorry too Erin, I had to completely re-do this entry because the fracking blogger is being annoying today and won't cooperate.

Dreams of Oscar
I always dreamed of becoming an actress. Perhaps not a "movie" one but definitely a theater or stage one. I loved doing The Merchant of Venice in college. I looked forward to the butterflies before walking out on the stage (even if I only had a few short lines as a serving wench, then a courier).
Alas, becoming this was never meant to be for me. Instead I was destined to be a Mother. I grabbed onto my destiny and took off for a bumpy but happy ride. I usually don't regret what might have been, except every Oscar Sunday. I always sit glued to the screen as I watch the stars walk the red carpet and think about what might have been.
I'm calling Ellen Page as the Best Actress (but I could be wrong here), and Daniel Day as Best Actor (come on, everyone knows this is a lock) but I'm not sure about directors or movies of the year. Who else out there is set to join me this evening in taking in the show?

I am Obsessed!
I'm generally not much of a fashionista. I've never "got" into clothes, accessories, or purses. But recently I can't stop putting together outfits in my mind, or wanting new things to explore and push my personal style. I've stopped going out in jeans and t's and sneakers. It's rather liberating and fun but boy is it expensive. So I try to find inventive ways to get that look without spending the cash. Which means I usually shop the online sales (or in store sales) to see what I can find *cough*ebay*cough.
My obsession recently is the outfit above worn by the beautiful Kate Beckinsale. I'm not sure exactly why I love this look so much but I drool each time I see it. I've been looking for a similar tunic (no luck yet) but the first thing I'm after is a pair of shorts. If you click HERE you can see other pictures to show you kind of what I mean. I have a few sweater/dresses that are too short to wear alone but if I got my hands on these shorts I'd solve that problem.
Anyone have any suggestions? Photo credit - I'm Not Obsessed.com

What's the deal with Lindsay?
Now I realize that by making this entry, I'm feeding into the beast that is Lindsay Lohan. But I have to ask, what is it with this girl? I've seen her movies and I don't find her exceptional as actresses go. She's not anything to make a huge fuss over, not in my opinion. So why is she hounded and followed and put on the covers of the spamazines?
Today I read about her posing to recreate Marilyn Monroe's legendary last photo shoot. My first question was...why??
Lindsay will never be anything like Marilyn. Oh sure, she's got the party hard lifestyle down but as far as that "thing" Marilyn had, Lindsay just doesn't. I could sit and watch a movie in awe when Ms. Monroe took the screen. There was just something about her. And I'm pretty sure each year young fans get a taste of Marilyn and they too are hooked.
Can you honestly say that about Ms. Lohan? I wish they'd taken the time and money (and talent of the photographer) and had used a better person to capture the essence of Marilyn. Could you imagine how beautiful these pictures would have been if they'd asked Kate Winslet??

Respect
I've went from angry to down right pissed at entertainment reporters. I read THIS on CNN.com.
Heath Ledger was an intensely private man. You could tell this just by watching the interviews he gave. I know he tried to live his life out of the spot light. He resided in Brooklyn which goes to show his desire to be normal and to blend in with his neighbors and those around him.
I suppose that's what makes me so upset. In his death he should be respected as much as possible. I realize people want to publish stories. I don't mind that at all. People magazine ran a cover story about him and it was tastefully done. But Entertainment Tonight isn't following that same protocol.
They've come across a video tape that is 2 years old that shows Heath in a room with people doing drugs. I've not seen the video in it's entirety but I've seen the clips of him (it was on a commercial for the show) saying he has a daughter (he says her name) and his girlfriend is going to be so pissed at him. Entertainment Tonight was going to air this video in it's entirety for the world to see. It was set to be viewed tonight.
Then today they decided to pull the plug. I actually thought there was hope. Maybe they could see past the dollar signs and instead allow his family to mourn. But no. They have decided not to go forward because they fear the backlash from agents who have written producers to state they will not allow their star clients to appear on the show if ET proceeds forward with it's report.
How freaking sad.

When will it stop?
Today while doing my usual 'Monday morning news' I followed my normal routine. First, CNN.com and then People.com. As usual, on People there is an article about Britney Spears (big surprise there). She apparently had a mini breakdown and ended up sitting on a rock embankment while paparazzi snapped pictures of her.
This madness has to stop. It has to. It's not funny anymore and it makes me sick of our society and the people in it. I think Britney needs serious help, both mentally and emotionally. Can you imagine how difficult it would be having cameras shoved in your face since you were 18 years old? Or crazy men you don't know following you all around, watching as you go into Starbucks or the restroom? She's been dealing with this crap for so long now, I can't help but wonder if it didn't add to her irrational behavior as of late.
We need laws passed about this kind of thing. I used to think if you were a celebrity you lost your rights to privacy the moment you became a star. I was very apathetic. I figured with the ridiculous amounts of money the stars make they could afford security systems, gates and private property. But it's become a HUGE invasion of privacy. When a person can't even break down without having 50 camera bulbs flashing while they rush to capture the moment...
I hope Britney collects herself and rebuilds her life. Because I hate to think of the opposite and I'm telling you, I could see something terrible happening to her and it will be captured on film for the entire world to see. This girl is obviously suffering from severe mental illness and people need to have some respect and back the fuck off. Seriously.

Miley Cyrus
Hey Miley. I have an idea! Why don't you make those tickets more affordable for children, so there won't be this huge demand. Why not do several shows to make everyone happy, so that each child that idolizes you will get their dream, which is to see you perform? How about you stand up for what's right, since you realize you are a ROLE MODEL. Listen to your FANS. The ones that put you on the cover of magazines. Stop abusing them by making them fork out money they might not have just to see you for 90 minutes on stage.
I know, I know. She won't ever read this blog. She probably already knows her fans are disgruntled and blames those nasty ticket scalpers for all the problems. But somehow I bet she'll still be singing along, raking in the dough and turning a blind eye.
Some role model.
