When I approached your counter I was hesitant. You were obviously very busy and to pass the time I walked over to the pigment samples. The new glitter one just begged to be looked at and I gently opened the lid. To my horror flakes of the glitter flew all over and a pretty representative (doing a make-over) looked at me strangely so I explained I wanted to see it's coverage on skin. She was nice enough but I put the glitter down. What can I say, if you ever need to distract me just place a shiny object in my line of sight.
I was about to walk away when the same representative looked up briefly to ask if she could help me. I told her I was looking for the Shadestick in Sharkskin, she directed me to the side where they had the testers/make-over ones. I saw two sharkskins and waited for maybe 10 minutes before she looked up again to see if I was ready.
I was sad when I requested and she said they had sold out. I told her I'd tried to get one online but they were gone there as well. I thanked her and she walked to remove the two tester tubes from the display. I saw her walk to the register and grab a small bag. What a shame to throw away such great product I thought.
She then turned and walked toward me and handed me the bag.
"Don't you go telling everybody now." She smiled.
"Oh my god, I think I love you." I said back. "Thank you so much!!!"
I walked out with two barely used sharkskin shadesticks. So that bad day at the MAC counter? Forget I ever said it!

MAC
Ok, I see what the fuss is about. I finally got my hands on some MAC pigments and I'm in LOVE. They are so pigmented and gorgeous.
Last night I did a vibrant green look. It was funny because my eyes were shimmering in the movie theater lighting while we were waiting to see the new Indiana Jones. Jimbo kept staring at me (in a good way).
I snapped a few pictures. I'm not good at taking ones of my eyes though, so bear with me. I have one blurry and one sharp so you can see the shimmers.
*got my pigments HERE. A wonderful shop Emilee specializes in rare and hard to find pigments. It's a great way to test out MAC products before taking the plunge!

Iron Man
So last night we went to see Iron Man. It was a great movie, I was pleasantly surprised. Go check it out if you get the chance.
The best part of the night, other than spending quality time with my super sweet guy, was the compliments I received on my make-up. I decided to just go for it and used some of my new pigments and my MAC shadestick (my only MAC product). I did this peacock thing with a bright shimmery blue in the inner corner and a deep dark indigo blue on the rest of the lid. I smoked that out with a bit of black in the crease and lined my lower lash line with corresponding blues.
I was sort of worried because it was a very noticeable look which is a far cry from my normal face when I go out. But when I stopped inside Sally's (on the look for some Limited Edition Finger Paints polish) the girl complimented me. Then I got another compliment at Walgreen's and finally at Hell-Mart (we did our weekly shopping after the movie). So I guess it looked ok, I regret not taking pictures to share. I will next time.
On a side note, when I went to Belk to look for some MAC pigment. I approached the counter and asked about purchasing the Old Gold pigment. The girl helping me told me it was "a limited edition" which is weird because online it's not listed as one. She informed me also that her store "doesn't carry the pigments".
Come to find out they not only didn't have the pigments but they didn't have any palettes or refills. All they had were paint pots, individual shadows and blushes. I asked if I could possibly buy a couple of shadows and get some samples to figure out exactly what I like and was told, "just buy it, if you don't like it you can just bring it back".
Needless to say, I didn't buy anything from the counter. Is this usual for MAC vendors and representatives? There were 3 MAC people at the counter and one other client other than myself. She wasn't outright "hateful" but you could tell she wanted me gone.

What happened to me?
I've always been a tomboy. When I was a child I preferred G.I. Joes to Barbies, Cowboys and Indians to Dolls and playing war instead of playing house. I never wore dresses or skirts, hated wearing make-up and rebelled when I started growing breasts.
As time moved on I slowly embraced my feminine side but I retained old habits. I always wore blue jeans and make-up was always minimal. The two things I concentrated on were my nails and hair.
Recently however another person has emerged. Something is happening I NEVER imagined possible for me, starting with clothing. I finally purchased a skirt and liked it so much I bought another. After that I realized every girl needs a good pair of Spanx to rock skirts so I got a set. Shortly after this I purchased my first pair of heels and my attention then turned to make-up.
I knew it wasn't cheap but dear god, I never knew it was this expensive. I'd always bought my meager make-up in Wal-Mart since all of my skin care needs are purchased there as well. I use Neutrogena base, Physician's Formula blushes and powder and to cleanse I use J&J's Purpose soap and moisturizer. This has worked well for me over the years but admittedly, I never look like I'm wearing any make-up at all. It's natural taken to the extreme with me.
So lately I've been dibbling in eye shadows, eye liners, and brushes. I haven't made it to the foundations, concealers or bronzers just yet and it's a good thing because I can't afford the stuff I want right now. I've been watching tutorials for these amazing looks on Youtube and the products they use are outrageous.
M.A.C. stuff looks amazing. In each video I've watched this is usually the make-up of choice. I looked it up since I wanted to duplicate the looks and I literally could not believe my eyes. In order to recreate just one look I really liked I'd have to spend close to $300. Let me write that out, just to make sure you realize I didn't type that wrong - THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS.
That is just insane. Ultimately I did some research and ordered some pigments online from another company in sample sizes. This way I can get an idea of what I like and order accordingly. I still want some of the M.A.C stuff and I hope to get a few things but it'll have to wait. I've read that if you make a purchase at the counter the representative will give you up to 3 samples of pigment. So if this is true I'll just pick up a few samples and buy something once per paycheck until I have the things I really want.
I've been living under a rock because I seriously never imagined how expensive it could be. I suppose I should have when you fork out $15 dollars for a bottle of their polish. Jeezus.
